GLOW

Or also known as the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, stars Alison Brie, Marc Maron, and Betty Gilpin in this comedic drama based off of the professional and personal lives of a group of women in the 1980's who performed for a wrestling organization in Los Angeles. This hit series is coming back this summer, speculating a June return (no word yet), for a third season and this time around the girls are headed to Vegas. You've got some time to catch up now and watch the first two seasons before the third one drops, you won't regret it. The actresses of GLOW have extensive training to learn how to land the moves they do in the ring. The first season focuses on Marc Maron's character, Sam, casting for GLOW and none of the girls have any experience in wrestling. When Alison Brie's character, Ruth, becomes part of the show, trouble arises when her famous ex-best friend also joins GLOW after recently finding out that her husband cheated on her with Ruth. There's action, comedy, and who doesn't love a good throw back to the 80's? If you don't have GLOW on your watch list, I highly recommend it.

Why Does it Matter?

Primarily a female cast that play strong roles that bring together a group of people that are nothing alike to the eye but find commonalities in the ring.

I give it an overall 8.5/10 stars.

Stranger Things

This one is what we've all been waiting for, dropping their third season on July 4th, 2019, we get to see our favorite group of people back on the screen. Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, and Finn Wolfhard star in this drama fantasy originally about the disappearance of a young boy, and the people looking for him that must confront terrifying forces to get him back. The trailer for the third season has already dropped and it looks awesome. The effects and costumes that they have in this show create the creepy but mystical world. So far what we know about the new season is from the trailer but mall rats seem to play a big part... There are quite a few newcomers this season like Maya Hawke, daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, whose only got three acting credits currently, her character will work along side Steve Harrington at the mall.. Along with Francesca Reale (Emily in Netflx's show Hater's Back Off) as Heather and Jake Busey playing Bruce. I believe Heather plays a lifeguard at the pool the gang will be hanging out at this summer. Stranger Things is definitely a fan favorite and we've been waiting for this season for some time now.

Why Does it Matter?

Talented cast of people, writers, and directors that bring together a truly original and classic tale of people that have special abilities and how it's okay to be different.

I give it an overall 10/10 stars for being one of my favorites.

Other shows coming out this month and May include Chambers starring Uma Thurman dropping April 26th, The Society on May 10th and Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It season 2 on May 24th to name a few. Below are some photos of me meeting the Stranger Things cast at different events.
